A gifted motivational speaker, Shannon guides, educates and inspires audiences on key topics in mental health and wellness, including stimga, self-care, stress management, community building, restorative dialogue, overcoming PTSD and transforming victimhood.
Advocating for changes to the justice system to priotize the mental health of people affected by crime (victims, offenders and communities), Shannon provided testimony to the Senate of Canada on the 2012 Omnibus Crime Bill C-10, contributed to the 2014 public consultation for Canada’s Victims Bill of Rights, and has spoken internationally on the topic of restorative justice. In 2017, Shannon was invited to share her expertise at two federal justice reform roundtables in Ottawa.
Shannon also consults for agency referrals, and conducts case-specific restorative justice consultations for criminal matters, schools and workplaces.
To raise awareness about families of offenders, Shannon produced a 2015 documentary for CBC Radio's The Current with Anna Maria Tremonti as part of the show's "Ripple Effect" series, featuring a Windsor, ON, support group.
In addition to restorative justice, Shannon is also known for her expertise on forgiveness and empathy. She regularly leads workshops and trainings on these topics.
