SHANNON MORONEY was a practicing teacher and counsellor when violence tore her life apart. After personally discovering the lack of help available for families of criminals, she became a restorative justice advocate who speaks internationally on the ripple effects of crime. A volunteer with Leave Out ViolencE (LOVE), she is also a contributor to The Forgiveness Project

In 2011, Shannon's memoir Through the Glass was published by Doubleday Canada, became an instant national bestseller and was nominated for several awards. In October 2012, it was published in the USA, UK, Australia and throughout the Commonwealth by Simon & Schuster. It is currently on the Top 10 List at the international Empathy Library.

In 2015, Shannon co-produced In Harm's Way, a documentary for CBC Radio's The Current featuring the voices and stories of her readers and one unique support group for families of offenders.

Shannon lives in Toronto where she is remarried and the mother of twins.
